Unveiling “Brothers”: On the Fields of Friendly Strife
At Veterans Collaborative, our mission is clear—enable access to charitable capacity, opportunity, and resources for Veterans. One effective solution we use to achieve this mission is by extending charitable Fiscal Sponsorships to Veteran founded and serving projects.
Today, we spotlight our project Brothers, an unprecedented documentary exploring the unique brotherhood of Army rugby players, and the essence of service, commitment, and grit our soldiers and veterans embody on and off the field.
The Filmmakers' Perspective
Brothers is spearheaded by award-winning filmmaker Sean Mullin and accomplished television writer Brian Anthony. With a combined experience of over 25 years in the entertainment industry in Hollywood, their venture into the world of West Point rugby is both a passion project and a personal journey. What makes their perspective truly unique is that both Sean and Brian are graduates of the United States Military Academy, former Army Rugby players, and Army and Special Ops Veterans. Having been shaped by this brotherhood – it is personal to them.
Seeing IS Sometimes Believing
In the world of storytelling, sometimes you have to see it to believe it. In Sean Mullin's recent work, It Ain't Over, an intimate portrayal of Yogi Berra's life, he has garnered critical acclaim including nominations for 2 Critic’s Choice Awards and Oscar buzz. Sean’s ability to capture the human experience in its rawest and most natural forms is evident. However, what is remarkable is his unique ability to not only document reality but also draw the audience in, creating a genuine and invested connection. As he turns his focus to Brothers, his team aims to bring the untold stories of courage and camaraderie of Army Rugby to a global audience.
Changing the Narrative
Brothers is not just a sports documentary; it's a testament to the strength found in unity, the trials faced in brotherhood, and the indomitable spirit that defines the players at West Point both past and present. As the rugby team fights for their National Championship, the audience is invited into a world where the bonds formed on the field echo with the values of service, loyalty, and the unyielding pursuit of victory that will carry them through their lives and service.
Impact on the Service Members and Veterans Community
What we see in Brothers are untold stories of remarkable individuals who embody the qualities of true leaders. We see the stories of soldiers and veterans authentically portrayed, offering a unique perspective on their lives, challenges, and triumphs. This documentary serves as a tribute to their unwavering dedication and sacrifices, providing a genuine glimpse into the experiences that shaped them as individuals and leaders.
We believe that the impact of Brothers on the greater community of service members and Veterans will be profound. By showcasing the diverse aspects of military life, this documentary has the potential to resonate with individuals who have served and those who continue to serve, while also inspiring a new generation to join their ranks. It is a testament to the resilience and strength that define the military community.
Beyond the Screen
Veterans Collaborative takes immense pride in playing our small role in bringing forward this incredible story. By supporting Brothers and Veterans, we contribute to a narrative that goes beyond the screen—a story that inspires, educates, and fosters a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by our service members and Veterans. We hope that our community sees itself in this compelling portrait and tale of Army Rugby.
Inspire Change and Unity
We invite you to join us in celebrating Brothers and our Veteran filmmakers. We believe in the power of storytelling to inspire change and unity. Brothers is an opportunity to be part of a transformative narrative, amplifying the voices of our military and veteran communities.
