Empowering Impact: Veterans Collaborative Ventures through Fiscal Sponsorship

We contemplate access in terms of who possesses it, who lacks it, and how we can open the floodgates every single day. We believe plain and simple access is the greatest challenge facing our Veteran and military communities, surpassing any other, no matter how you slice it. For today’s chat, and all in the name of access for Veterans, service members, and their families, we will dive into the exciting world of fiscal sponsorship and our Ventures.

Fiscal Sponsorship means intention within the mission-driven landscape of Veterans Collaborative. We believe you can be the change in your community, and with that hope offer fiscal sponsorship to charitable projects that align with the mission, vision, and hope of Veterans Collaborative. We are proud to be the only fiscal sponsorship program, of our knowledge, for our Veteran and military community—founded by and/or serving.

Let me take a moment to tell you about our program, Ventures, and how it is amplifying our commitment to providing charitable capacity and opportunity to those who have served.

What is Fiscal Sponsorship?

First, let's demystify fiscal sponsorship. It’s not just a partnership; it's a strategic alliance that fuels impact. Fiscal sponsorship is a dynamic arrangement where Veterans Collaborative extends its c3 charitable umbrella, empowering our Venture projects to operate as a program under our nonprofit status. In essence, we provide our vetted projects with the organizational infrastructure they need, from administrative support to program and financial management, allowing them to focus entirely on advancing their mission.

How Fiscal Sponsorship Enhances Our Mission

Well, our mission is to strengthen accessibility to vital support and opportunities for Veterans, service members, and their families. Fiscal sponsorship becomes a catalyst in achieving this mission. By seamlessly integrating Ventures under our charitable umbrella, we enhance their ability to serve more by managing the operational aspects, ensuring resources are efficiently channeled towards their impactful initiatives.

What Fiscal Sponsorship Isn't

Fiscal sponsorship isn't a one-size-fits-all arrangement. It’s not a pass-through opportunity, a fundraising arm, or about absorbing Ventures into a generic mold; rather, it's about preserving the unique identity and charitable mission of aligned projects while providing them with the support they need to thrive. It isn't about control; it's about collaboration. Ventures maintain their autonomy, vision, and leadership, with Veterans Collaborative acting as the behind-the-scenes engine, propelling them toward success. Essentially, we are teaching our projects to fish.

Ventures We Believe In

Ventures currently houses several distinct and active projects, each tailored to address critical needs within the Veteran and military communities. Again, these are charitable initiatives founded by Veterans with unique missions. Highlighted are:

-          ProtectED, a charitable project that incorporates bullet proof book shelving as part of school gun violence prevention.

-          Bugle, innovative non-profit volunteer management software that amplifies voices and stories within the charitable realm.

-          Brothers, an educational documentary on Army Rugby, with a unique perspective on the lives, challenges, and triumphs of our Veterans and Service Members.

-          US Ukraine Veteran Bridge Educational Fund, c3 charitable support for building a better tomorrow for Ukrainian Veterans, families, and survivors.

These projects feature the diverse and impactful ways our Ventures are actively contributing to the well-being and advancement of our military communities.

So, now that you know what it is, please help spread the word so we can build bridges, foster innovation, and most importantly, empower our Veteran and military communities to thrive. What are you waiting for? VENTURE with US!
